Increasing Number of Online Bingo Sites Shut Down

Friday, November 5th, 2010 - Tammy F.

Over the course of the past month, you may have noticed a decrease in the number of online bingo websites operated by PlayTech. It seems that the operator has been losing business to bigger online bingo brands like Virtue Fusion and St. Minver.

Online bingo has become one of the most lucrative markets in the online gambling world. But, as more and more operators saw the profitability of offering bingo services online, competition became very steep. Unfortunately, this cause many well-loved online bingo sites to shut down before they ever really got a chance to shine.

It was never expected that an operator as big as PlayTech would be forced to shut down. Normally, larger operators are able to stay afloat, as they gain a fanbase based on their existing online casino sites. Sadly, PlayTech bingo websites defied this situation, and now Titan Bingo and Bingo Day have shut down.

Other large operators have managed to stay afloat, however. Microgaming bingo sites are still alive and well, but there is no word on just how profitable they are. Hopefully, the online bingo industry will balance out soon, leaving room for a wide range of operators rather than a select few.
