Online gambling presents a great alternative for punters who wish to gamble from the comfort of their own homes, but it has recently been revealed that some operators now depend on the online industry. Rather than giving players an additional option for a gambling outlet, online sportsbetting has almost replaced the land-based industry.
According Warwick Barlett of Global Betting and Gaming consultant, the popularity of land-based gambling venues is on the decline. While they offer the same type of promotions as online gambling websites, they seem to have more costs involved, which is a turn off for many potential punters.
As a result, many players have taken their business online, opting to wager on sporting events from their computers rather than in a betting shop. “It’s having a very positive impact for the punter”, says Warwick.
However, land-based operators must step up their game to gain back some of the business that has been lost to online sportsbooks. Many land-based companies are considering launching their own online divisions to get a market share of the sportsbetting industry, so the selection of online sportsbooks may soon become very plentiful.
