Poker Champs Sell WSOP Bracelets

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010 - Tammy F.

Last week, 2008 World Series of Poker champion Peter Eastgate sold his Main Event Winner’s bracelet on eBay for an impressive $147 000. All of the funds were donated to UNICEF, and the whole situation has started a trend among professional poker players across the country. Now, 1999 Razz Winner Paul Clark is following suit, putting up his winner’s bracelet on eBay for auction.

Eastgate’s poker bracelet featured 291 Diamonds and was made of over 150 grams 18-karat white gold. He earned the bracelet in 2008, after winning the first place prize at the WSOP for $9.15 million. The bidding for the bracelet started at $16 000. Paul Clark’s bracelet, in comparison, weighs 117 and bidding will start at $2800.

While taking part in charity poker tournaments is a great way for poker pros to give back to the community, Peter Eastgate seems to have started a new trend. Like NFL players with Super Bowl rings, WSOP bracelets are a symbol of a poker player’s victory. When auctioned off, poker fans are guaranteed to pay a great deal of money for these items, making for very hefty donations to various charities.
