Comparison firm Bingo Hideout has recently conducted a survey about the habits of male online bingo players. Results reveal that one third of British men who play casino games online keep their habits a secret from their spouse, lying about the amount of time and money they actually spend on them.
The survey had nearly 2000 participants across the country, half of which admitted to spending up to £50 a week on online gaming. Over 10% spend £100 or more, but the vast majority of all male gamers tell their spouses they spend much less than they actually do. This reveals quite a bit about male attitudes toward online bingo. While many men are honest about their habits, there are still some that seem embarrassed about their gaming expenditures.
The male population in the online bingo world has grown in the past couple of years, with almost 1 in 5 of all bingo players being men. Of these men, 42% said that they play a few times each week and almost 30% admitted to playing every day. It seems that online bingo is catching up to online poker, in terms of popularity with male players. Online bingo has previously been thought of as a feminine game, but the low cost and low risk factor involved with the game has started to attract a lot of men.
The men who were surveyed also noted how valuable the chat function in online bingo is. 53% of respondents said they use the chat rooms regularly, while almost 30% said they have made new friends in the process. Nearly 20% have noted that this has even helped to improve their quality of life, by making new friends, improving computer skills and boosting their confidence.
