BingoPort has just released findings from a recent study, which state that the number of bingo fans playing free bingo has increased exponentially since January 2009. A new trend among bingo websites is free bingo, a version of the game which requires no wagering, offered alongside paid games. Now, free rooms account for 31% of the total population of online bingo, which is up 28% from 3% in January.
To see such a large increase in the last couple of years is impressive, and it is indicative of how effective free bingo is. It gives prospective players the chance to see exactly how a bingo website works and if it suits their tastes. However, it has been noted that free bingo is breeding a new population of players who are replacing those that don’t mind depositing money.
For the online bingo industry, this could mean trouble. Online bingo is one of the biggest online gaming industries. As such, bingo websites have become very costly to operate, and as competition grows, marketing and promotion budgets have reached millions of pounds.
However, most players are aware that in order to win big, you must make some sort of financial sacrifice. It is this knowledge that encourages bingo fans to continue playing pay-for-play online bingo. As well, the majority of players still congregate within paid bingo rooms, so the social interaction is still much greater there. So, free bingo, while presenting some problems and possible losses, has yet to present a considerable threat. In order to get the most out of online bingo, including social interaction and big prizes, paid bingo is the way to go.
