The online gambling monitor ,H2 Gambling Capital, shows that although 2010 was a rough year for many industries, online casinos primarily in the UK had a rather good year. Overall all the numbers were encouraging at a rise of 12.5 percent year-on-year from this to last.

Of course there were some components of online gambling that did better than others and added to these numbers. Most of the bigger contributors here were from more traditional gambling departments.

For example, online casinos and bingo sites were a big part of the success of the industry , and bingo did particularly well will revenues of $2.67 billion. That represents an increase of 28.4 percent last year. Online casinos were another great area with combined assets of $6.24 million.

Although there was a perception that online poker had a slow year, the final numbers for the UK tell a different story with the liberalization of both the French and Italian markets adding to the overall climb.

Online gambling websites saw fewer numbers from last year. There were fewer than 2 400 websites still operating and this fact is attributed to the slow worldwide economy more industry mergers and acquisitions and overall maturation of that segment of the industry.
