Bingo Gets Involved in American Politics

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011 - Alfie Williams.

Bingo has been used for a wide range of educational purposes. Teaching languages and math are popular uses for the game, but you would have never thought that bingo would be a suitable platform for teaching politics. Tomorrow, President Barack Obama will be giving the State of the Union Address, and viewers can keep up with the issues at hand with a set of bingo cards from the Alliance for Excellent Education.

The State of the Union Address gives the president a chance to report on the current state of political issues in the country. It also provides him with a chance to talk about his legislative agenda for the rest of the year.

Viewers can download one of three bingo cards available on the alliance’s website. Each card contains terms for various issues that are likely to be covered during the State of the Union Address. Terms include “unemployment”, “wall street”, “health care” and “Iraq”.

This is a great way for American citizens to keep track of the state of issues that are important to them. Politics can often be complex and convoluted, and anything to make things a little bit easier is always valued.
