An increasing number of online bingo operators are doing their part to raise money for several charities. This month, one online bingo campaign raised an impressive £ 1.5 million for the Sue Ryder Care Charity, possibly one of the biggest bingo fundraisers ever.
The original goal of the fundraiser was to raise £1 million for the charity, but the goal was exceeded by £500 000! The campaign ran for two years, and it was well worth the wait, as the Sue Ryder Care Charity will be benefitting greatly from this generous initiative.
The biggest event that was held as part of the campaign was a bingo competition at the Everest Base Camp. 25 employees of the online bingo operator trekked all the way to the camp to play an huge game of bingo, raising over £110 000 from the one event. The efforts were so successful that they were honoured at the House this month.
The Sue Ryder Care Charity provides support to people living with a wide range of life-changing diseases, such as cancer, Parkinson’s and brain injuries. Each year, the charity is responsible for over 4 million hours of care, provided by volunteers from across the nation.
