Pensioners Use Bingo to Raise Money for Medical Volunteers

Bingo is a popular game for fundraising purposes. Because of the fun and social nature of the game, it is a great way for organizations and charities to get members of the community to support their cause. This month, a group of pensioners from Haverhill raised £150 for the local First Responders unit.

The group consists of several pensioners in their 80s and 90s, who wanted to do something to help the organization which has done so much for people in the area. The First Responders are not government-funded, so they need all of the help they can get in order to continue providing medical care in the community.

Yvonne Warren, the 81-year-old organizer of the fundraising efforts, is pleased with the support her cause has scene from the community. “A lot of people donate their bingo winnings”, she says. “They also give me some really good prizes and are very generous”.

The First Responders in Haverhill are a group of volunteers who attend to medical emergencies on behalf of hospital paramedics. Since the unit was launched in 2002, the First Responders have helped over 4000 people in Haverhill.
