Authorities Push For Revitalization of Bingo As Fundraising Tool

Bingo has long been used a fundraising tool. In the UK especially, various not-for-profit organizations have raised money using charity bingo games. Now, other countries around the world are taking note of this trend.

In the Canadian province of Ontario, the lottery commission is launching a campaign to promote the use of bingo in benefiting local charities. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission will be partnering with the Ontario Charitable Gaming Association to offer new charitable bingo games in addition to the traditional games that take place at land-based bingo venues.

The games will be of the electronic kind, offering players a unique selection. By setting the charitable games apart from the traditional games, the OLG hopes that they will attract a wider audience to local bingo halls.

The partnership certainly presents a win-win situation for both parties involved. While the OLG hopes to attract new patrons to land-based bingo halls, the OCGA will earn a great deal of funding for organizations in need of financial assistance.
