Simon Cowell seems to be the king of television production. He’s made his fortune from capitalize off of huge trends by making television programs based on them. Now, he’s taken note of the huge popularity of gambling and the lottery in the UK and basing a new television series on the activity.
The new show, reportedly named Roulette, will air in ITV, promises contestants a shot at a £1 million prize. 17 000 people across the UK will buy a lottery ticket for £1. The studio will then hold a draw and the winners will be invited on to the show to try their luck for the grand prize.
Millions of viewers call in to vote on XFactor every night. Cowell believes that he can monetize that activity by getting views of his shows to purchase tickets in order to participate.
It has been rumoured that the show will take place in Wembley Arena and that the pilot episode will be filmed in June. Fans of Cowell’s existing shows are a little skeptical about the new idea. The show could either be a huge success or a complete failure.
