Manchester Bingo Brand Closes

Buckingham Bingo, a popular Manchester-based bingo chain, will no longer be in operation. After over 40 years of success, Buckingham Bingo has become a victim of the digital age and will now be closing its doors.

The chain was sold for about £20 million and has been purchased by Club 3000 and Castle Leisure, two other UK-based bingo brands. This will be the second time that Buckingham Bingo will change ownership. The first was in 2005, when the company was sold to Alchemy Partners for £90 million. Since then, the chain has seen a steady decline in business.

The poor performance of the brand in recent years is suspected to be a result of the smoking ban, which forced bingo players into the online bingo world. The rising bingo tax has also caused players to take their business to online bingo websites. As a result, the land-based bingo world has seen many closures in recent years.

Buckingham Bingo is just the latest victim of the land-based bingo downswing. However, the fact that the brand was purchased by two other bingo operators might mean that the chain may still see some operation in the future.
