It has just been announced that the Spanish Congress has passed the gambling reform bill, a legislation that will regulate the country’s online gambling industry. After taking in to consideration amendments and suggestions, the bill is now on its way to the Spanish Senate.
During its time at Senate, the bill will be debated once again by politicians from across the country. After being voted on, the bill will head to the European Commission for approval. The legislation process seems to have been going fairly smoothly for the Spanish gambling reform and industry analysts believe that the industry could be regulated by the end of this year.
This will be the first time that Spain’s online gambling laws have been reformed since the activity was unbanned in 1977. As such, the legislation will take in to consideration several aspects of the gaming industry in the country, include online and telephone betting.
Among these changes is suspected to be a provision that will allow football clubs to offer sportbetting activities, in addition to a requirement for all online casino companies to obtain Spanish domain changes. Despite the vast number of changes being made, the bill’s authors are confident that the bill will pass smoothly through the Senate’s voting process.
